Life By Design: The Power of Choosing On Purpose

Most people don’t realize they’re designing a life.

They think life just… happens.

Opportunities show up.
Circumstances unfold. Time passes.

But the truth is—whether you’re aware of it or not,
you are always designing your life.

The question is…
are you doing it on purpose?

I Started Designing Early—Before I Knew What to Call It

At 15, I read Rich Dad Poor Dad.

That book didn’t just teach me about money—it shifted how I saw life.

It planted a simple but powerful idea:
You don’t have to follow the default path.

By 18, I had my real estate license and became a personal trainer.

Not because it was the obvious path…
but because I wanted options.

At 21, I bought my first 3-family house.
Not because I had it all figured out—
but because I understood one thing:
Assets create freedom.

I didn’t want to work just to pay bills.
I wanted my life to work for me.

I Didn’t Just Choose a Career—I Chose a Lifestyle

I went to school for business management, but more importantly,
I paid attention to what kind of life I wanted.

Not the highlight reel.
Not the Instagram version.
The real version.

When I had kids, I made a decision that would shape everything after:

I chose property management.

Why?

Because it allowed me to be present.
To be home.
To be available.
To build something that worked around my life—not the other way around.

When Life Shifted—So Did My Design

When I got divorced, I didn’t start over.
I stayed anchored in real estate and property management—
because I had already built a life that could bend without breaking.

That’s the difference between living by default and living by design.

One reacts.
The other adapts.

I didn’t chase the highest income.
I protected the structure of my life.
Because at that point, success wasn’t about money.

It was about:
Stability for my kids
Flexibility in my schedule
Peace in my home

I Choose Where I Live Based on Vision, Not Just Comfort

I chose Idaho intentionally.
Not randomly. Not just because it was “nice.”
But because I saw growth.
Opportunity.
Momentum.
Where you live matters.
It affects your cost of living.
Your opportunities.
Your stress level.
Your future.

Life design isn’t just internal—it’s strategic.

I’ve Never Lived Without My Life Supporting Itself

I’ve never lived in a home where tenants weren’t paying my mortgage.

That wasn’t luck.
That was a decision—made early and repeated often.

It’s one of the simplest examples of life design:

Make your life sustainable.
Then make it scalable.

I Choose Experiences Over Excess
I choose to be frugal—but not from a place of lack.

From a place of intention.
I’m not interested in overspending on things that don’t add real value.

I don’t need constant upgrades, trendy purchases, or a life that looks expensive.

Because what I really want to spend my money on… is memories.

Experiences.
Travel.
Time with my kids.
Moments that actually shape our lives.

I’ll take a meaningful trip, a shared adventure, or a memory we talk about for years…
over things that lose their value the second you buy them.

Frugality, for me, isn’t restriction.
It’s freedom to choose what matters most.

I’ve Been Intentional About My Health From the Beginning

Long before it was trendy, I chose health and fitness as a priority.
Not for aesthetics.
Not for comparison.

But because I understand something most people learn too late:

Without your health—you have nothing.

No energy to enjoy your life.
No capacity to show up fully.
No foundation to build anything meaningful on.

Every workout.
Every habit.
Every decision to take care of myself…

Has been part of designing a life where I can actually live well—
not just exist.

I Chose My Relationship With Intention

I was extremely intentional about the man I chose now, to spend my life with.

Not based on surface-level attraction or convenience—
but based on something deeper:

Respect.
Trust.
Alignment.

And that matters even more because our life isn’t conventional.

We live separately, half the time—to support my kids’ stability and their routines.
And that only works because:

I trust him deeply.
And I respect him fully.

That’s life design too.

Not following what looks “normal”—
but building what actually works.
What you actually want.

I Protect My Peace Like It’s My Job

One of the most important things I’ve learned:

Your life is only as good as the energy you allow into it.

I’m intentional about who I keep in my life.

My circle is small—on purpose.

Because not everyone deserves access to your time, your energy, or your peace.

I choose people who:
Respect me
Support me
Add to my life—not drain it
I don’t entertain chaos.
I don’t hold onto relationships out of obligation.
And I don’t sacrifice my peace to make other people comfortable.
Because peace isn’t something you find.
It’s something you protect.

I Choose Time Over Money—Every Day

This is where most people hesitate.
Because it’s not glamorous.

I drive a 2015 Honda Odyssey.
Not because I have to—
but because I choose to

No car payment.
No stress if the kids eat in it.
No pressure to maintain an image.

I choose to be frugal with clothes.
Intentional with furniture.
Thoughtful with spending.

Because every dollar I don’t spend…
Buys me something more valuable:

Time.

This Is What Life Design Actually Looks Like

It’s not perfect.
It’s not flashy.
It’s not always impressive to other people.

But it’s aligned.

It’s choosing:

Flexibility over status
Stability over chaos
Time over excess
Peace over pressure
Health over shortcuts
Depth over distraction

It’s understanding that every decision—big or small—
is shaping the life you wake up to every day.

The Truth Most People Avoid

You don’t accidentally end up with a life you love.

You build it.

One decision at a time.
One trade-off at a time.
One intentional choice after another.

The Question Is…
Are you choosing your life…

Or just living in what you ended up with?

Message me.

If you feel like you have "everything" and aren't happy. Message me.

If you feel lost and aren't sure what will work for you.. message me.

If you're just getting started and have an idea of where you want to end up .. message me.

Let's build together.
