Depression? Maybe Not!

It’s Not Always Depression — Sometimes It’s a Dysregulated Nervous System We live in a world that moves fast, demands more, and leaves very little room for breath. So when you start feeling heavy, disconnected, unmotivated, or “off,” it’s easy to assume you’re dealing with depression. And sometimes you are — real depression exists and deserves real care. But other times? What you’re experiencing isn’t a chemical collapse… it’s a nervous system that’s overloaded, stuck, or operating in survival mode. And here’s where the confusion happens: A dysregulated nervous system can look and feel exactly like depression. You’re exhausted. You can’t think clearly. You don’t feel joy, motivation, or energy. You want to withdraw. You feel like everything is too much. But these symptoms can come from a brain and body stuck in fight, flight, freeze, or fawn — not from depression itself. When your nervous system is dysregulated, your body isn’t operating in “life mode.” It’s operating in “k...

Hawaii 🌺 Big Island Adventure

A Bold Adventure in Kona, Hawaii: Manta Rays, Volcanoes, and Rainbows If there’s a place on earth that feels like stepping into a vivid postcard, it’s Kona, Hawaii. Even the airport is open to the elements. From night snorkeling with graceful manta rays to standing on the edge of a steaming volcano, every experience here feels like a front-row seat to nature’s raw beauty. Here's a glimpse into one unforgettable trip. --- We chose to spend our first couple of days at Outrigger Resort, this was beautiful, had an awesome pool divided in two sections; One family side and one 21+. Also, the buffet breakfast was delicious, including personalized omelettes and the POG juice.  Night Magic: Snorkeling with Manta Rays Our main goal in traveling to Kona was to get this experience! Let me say, it was worth! It tops my list on magical experiences for sure.  We booked a night snorkel trio with Hang Loose Tours, just off the coast, where massive manta rays glide effortlessly bene...

Netarts & Oceanside Oregon Road Trip

Image
Highlights of Netarts and Oceanside, Oregon July 2025 My kids and I road trip every year, usually we try and do a National Park, but this year my mom had time off to go with us, so we decided to head to the Oregon coast, in search of tide pools, seals, wind for flying a kite and some quality time.  We live in Boise, Idaho so it's around 8 hours to Netarts. Because there were four of us, we found an Airbnb right in Netarts so it was easy to come and go for meal times, this worked out perfectly.  We left Boise around 9am and got to Netarts about 5:30pm. We did stop in Tillamook to grocery shop since there are no decent stores in Netarts, so stock up. However, it's only about 12 mins from town, so you can come and go throughout your trip.  The Airbnb we booked had a game room in the bottom and laundry, which is important with the endless sand, and not much to do at night, so fun for the kids. It was also walking distance to Netarts Bay and across from a tasty and fun coffee ...

Amsterdam, Prague, Berlin, Iceland - Oh my!

Image
For this trip, Tom and I wanted to bounce around Europe and explore a bit. Amsterdam is usually inexpensive to fly in and out of, so we made that our point of European contact and then chose a few places we had never been to explore.  We went mid-January, so it was cold 🥶. We wanted to still travel light, so we made sure to fit everything into carry-on because the hopper flights from city to city are inexpensive but they charge extra for baggage.  Sky-scanner is my go-to site for cheap flights in Europe, however sometimes the 3rd party flights can be unreliable, so make sure you're checking on them regularly in case they cancel or reschedule them.  I'm gonna go over what I wore and packed to both be stylish enough for Europe, warm enough and be able to fit it all in my carry-on. Yes there are affiliate links all throughout this, but only for things I loved and used and am still using for travel now.  Packing List :  Extra warm socks Boots An extra long coat ...
